OMG is this really the 300th week we have been showing off the contents of our desks...... all thanks to the lovely Julia at the http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/whats-on-your-workdesk-wednesday-300.html?m=1 join in do .... its very addictive.
On my desk this week is ..... some afternoon sun...... and new stuff
Lots of Stuff but not much being done..... back to work this week.
So what can we see?
On the far right is my night time sketch pad (lots of waking up at night at the moment ... so I am doodling in the dark to cool myself down ( I'm a lady of a certain age you know). This has proved quite interesting!
Anyway back to powertex.... I did a work shop at the show with this new...ish product.... Oh my..... it was interesting ..... I made this.
It took a while to work it into the fabric.... lots of squeezing and squishing..... but it was easy to position it around the bottle and add the face.
We dried the bottle for a few minutes for it to go hard and then dry brushed on metallic paints for a shimmery effect on parts of the fabric and the face.
Anyway that's mine.... can I come round to see yours.... please..... just leave me your number and I'll be around after work.
Oh I nearly forgot to include last weeks finished item .... The skull I had been painting ... Ta ... Dah
Shame Farnborough was on at the same time as Stevenage, there weren't as many people there this time... but I managed to buy... oh boy! Love your beer bottle, how cool is that!! Helen 5
ReplyDeletebeer bottle is cool would never had guessed it was a bottle! enjoy your new stash!

Look! Sunshine! Look! EEK! Giant eyeballs! That bottle is just wonderful! It kind of has an earthy mildly creepy vibe to it, but I like it. Love the finished skull! Judy #74
ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to have new supplies to play with. Can't wait to see what you make! That bottle is oh so very interesting! I have to agree with Judy - it has a sort of swamp creature vibe to it but I love it!

Hi Janet happy 300th WOYWW, interesting stuff Powertex - your artwork looks great. Cheers RobynO#14
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of that product Powertex, so I'm intrigued. Especially so, if I can use it with fabric. Hmm. Now all I need is the beer bottle and some Powertex and I'll be ready to go. and like you, all I want to do is hibernate and get warm. Happy 300th WOYWW from #3.
ReplyDeleteOMG I so get the hot-at-night thing. Cold one minute then can't stand the heat the next. I tend to watch knitting videos at the moment but like the sketchpad idea too :)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to be back WOYWWing!

Wow you have been busy, love your pages and those eyes but your bottle is amazing, it reminds me of some props I've seen from films. Take care Zo xx 55
ReplyDeleteOMG I totally forgot it was Farnborough! That Powertex is right up your street isn't it..I would have walked past it without a second look!
ReplyDeleteLove the skull...perfect for Day of the Dead and other sorts of celebration...as longas it doesnt scare you on one of the nights you feel the need to get up and be at your desk!
Your Picture looks great and an easy rule when it comes to eye placement is pretend there is an exact same size eye in the middle that you don't draw :) They look fantastic with the reflection coming off of them :) HAPPY WOYWW hugs Nikki 1
ReplyDeleteFabulous work space and what fun projects.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
I love your creative space, and it all looks so wonderfully busy and productive - so unlike mine at the moment, which is a sad, folorn and dust-gathering place while my creative mojo is absent! (Eagerly awaiting his return once this major health crisis is over).
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and lol!! It wasn't the nurse who drew the smiley face around the stoma site blob - it was me! I haven't a clue what they'll say when they see it!
Shoshi
What a fun and full post, Janet! Thank you for sharing it all. I think your eyes are fantastic and how you can make them your pages that large and be that symmetrical is amazing to me! Such talent! The bottle creation is another stunning one!! Happy 300th WOYWW and thank you for coming by to see me! Hugs, Darnell #15
ReplyDeleteJanet, wow what a fantastic post, I love the eyes they look so real, I didn't think they were close together at all, after all it is a journal page right and anything goes. Oh and that bottle looks incredible. I'm sorry I am not getting around to visiting life is a tad manic atm.
