WOYWW 198 chip off the old block

Hi peepers
time again to peek at my workdesk ... so soon? where does the time go
Anyway on my desk this week is  some inky stampy stuff..... finally.
I have had a few weeks break from card making because I have been busy sewing quilts (more about that later)

This is a use it up desk... lots of stamped images, some from swaps and some that just never got used. Lots of D/S tape I am trying to use up. Also finally using some of my washi tape.
There is also several cups of fruit tea. Must take them back to the kitchen!
On the right is a set of flower stamps free with the latest copy of Simply Homemade.
This week I had some help.

Real chip off the old block eh!
It's only now that I see that very large pair of scissors, but luckily GD Erin was far more interested in the cut and dry foam. I was die cutting while she inked  and then :

THIS HAPPENED.

But let me tell you this is strong stuff, because it is still working.
Anyway back to the quilt making, this is my latest  lillybo quilt. for Jo who started the project.

This quilt really used up a lot of scraps. The fabric is less baby than a lot of the quilts so I think it would suit a slightly older girl.
I dont know what ages the children at CHIC are, but I hope someone will like it.

There is a hidden secret in the bag but you will have to wait until Jo has seen it because I dont want to spoil the surprise.
I will post pictures in a couple of weeks as I know Jo is busy at the moment.
If you like my desk please leave a comment and then visit Julia who has lots more on offer so grab a coffee, sit back and prepare to be inspired.
See Ya

  4. My cutting pad looks the same, has done it in two places, but just keeps going! My son also joins me at my desk, which reminds me, he has a tag to finish somewhere!

  7. Well done Janet, another quilt and it's a beauty. Blooming good for you gal. I love the photo with Erin, you're right, she sure knows what she's doing, a chip indeed! and I'm old school..I believe that you should be able to have scissors and stuff around and that they need teaching not to touch or use or whatever...but I know a lot of people disagree with that.

    1. I agree, am old school too, never moved anything from Keagan, he was taught 'No!'. I have friend's that move everything, cover book case with cardboard to stop little ones pulling things out and use string to tie up doors! So when they come to my house it's fun, and a world of wonder which sees their mum running around trying to stop them dropping anything!! I just laugh, kids need to see these things, and to be told what they are and what they do and how to use them or not! Zo xx

  8. Another beauty of a quilt. Your little helper there looks happy and reminds me of my niece, she's always fascinated when she comes into my craft room. That is some crack in your plate hope you manage to get anew one before that one breaks totally! Enjoy desk hopping. Take care Zo xx 87

  9. Awesome quilt & bag! And I'm another old schooler too. I never, ever moved anything out of reach of mine, they learned that if it's not theirs, they don't touch without asking first! The same as I was taught, and generations before us, and it worked out fine for us.Have a great week, Hugs Shaz #77

  11. I love the idea of having an area for "I must use this up". We will all have bits and pieces laying around that may never end up as anything.
Your quilt and bag are stunning such beautiful colours
    Wishing you a Happy WOYWW

  12. Wow, that is a busy desk this week Janet. It’s a great feeling when you manage to use up all those bits that get left over isn’t it. It looks like your little helper was having fun too.
Loving your latest quilt, perfect as you say, for an older child.
    Happy Crafting!

  14. Hi, beautiful quilt and I am sure it will be well loved. It is my intention to do a quilt for the project too but I am still wrestling with a big queen size one for home. My brain wont' allow me to work on more than one thing at once... sad but unfortunately very true. I am visiting all the numbers ending in 8 for WOYWW.

  17. DOH! I have a couple of quilts done but it's the bags that are holding me up. I really need to find a pattern I can handle. I find making anything with structure more intimidating than the quilting part :) Can't wait to see the surprise!

  21. That is a very pretty quilt, Janet..I really love the selection of colours...and it uses up useful quantities of scraps too. That's a win-win situation, eh?? I am really enjoying this patchwork malarkey but haven't got very adventurous yet...that'll have to change!

  24. GD Erin is a real cutie pie!! Kids do love to craft, it's fun when you have a "partner in crime"! Lovely quilt, which will be so appreciated! Thanks for visiting me today, waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥

  25. Beautiful quilt, I'm sure it will be well loved. Your cutting plate reminds me of the old Timex commercial, takes a licking and keeps on ticking lol. I can't bear to throw out most of my miscellaneous bits either. Every once in a while I open the box and build a project around one of them. Your granddaughter is definitely following your crafty footsteps : ). Thanks for visiting. #152

  27. Hi Janet, it's good to have a use-stash-up drive periodically, if only because it helps unearth hidden/forgotten goodies. But, oh dear, your poor cutting plate ... some time ago I got so concerned about the state of mine that I ordered a couple of spares. I needn't have worried, it still going strong but I'm happy to keep the spares for embossing alone.

The quilt is gorgeous - love the cheerful mix of colours and patterns in the fabrics used.

Thanks for stopping by earlier. the layout is, indeed, about the Museum of Costume here in Scotland. This layout is about a particular display of wedding dresses worn by actresses in the movies - and stunning they are too. Unfortunately, due to the recession and the seemingly parlous state of the UK economy the decision has been made to close the museum - I'm so disappointed at the news.

On that sad note I'll wish you good week. Elizabeth x #55

  28. Hi Janet,

What an adorable little helper! I bet the two of you had so much fun. Isn't it interesting what we see in photos once we post them.

The quilt is beautiful. I'm sure the recipient will love it. Can't wait to see what the surprise is!

Thanks for visiting me already. I'm slowly making my way around.

    Happy WOYWW
