Hi peeps
Yes it's wednesday again and time to peek at work desks all over the world under the headship of the the talkative Julia over at the stamping-ground.
Here's mine..... thankfully it looks a bit different this week. I am still sewing quilts, well, one quilt anyway.
It was a lovely sunny day yesterday when I took this picture but sadly it isn't very easy to see anything. I didn't have much time for crafting as I had GD Erin and the handyman was home too..... so it still looks the same this morning.
Following on from last weeks peek here is the finished stickles carousel.
I didn't decorate it, but I did squeeze a bit on the edge so I can see which colour is which ( a little bit OCD). Maybe I should have made more of an effort but I couldn't see the point
Anyway do you want to see what I had on my sewing machine? No! well you can anyway.
As the LIllybo quilts are going to Liverpool I thought a nautical theme might suit an older boy.
Several of the early quilts were very pretty and girly. Take a look at the lillybo quilts. the idea of the wonderful Jo of jozart designs.
I already had some of this material and some I brought in the sale at work, .trying to keep the costs down a bit so I can continue to make them
This one has a bound edge which I think worked bettter than the first one I did.
Also from previous posts...... do you remember the button cuff I finally repaired last week which had been on my desk for weeks..... I wore it the next day ...... and the grunge board cracked, dont you just live irony.
so I have to make it all over again.... this time I am going to use leather.
Anyway that's all folks.... usual rules apply.
Thanks for sticking with me to the end!
I will visit you back if you leave a comment and your Mr Linky no.
ta ta and toodle pip!

ReplyDeleteJanet what a fabulous quilt!! Don't mock the sunshine, even if we can only see the dust (oh, is that just me then?) Helen, 5

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely desk to work on and the shaft of sunlight makes you feel good too. The Nautical theme quilt looks amazing. They have all been so very different and there should be one to suit the character, personality and interests of every child. Eddie of CHICS told me that the first one to be given went to an 8 year old girl who was having a tumour removed the next day. She was so thrilled and cuddled it and Eddie said that it took her mind off what was going on there. They really are a great success for them and a triumph for all of us. TYTYTY!
ReplyDeleteThe children come from a wide area, right into Wales, as it is a specialist hospital and co-incidentally some are sent over to the hospital in Hamburg where my own little fraulein is being treated!
love jo x
shame you didn't do some altered art on your stickles storage but maybe over time you might decide to do something with it.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful so many wonderful colours.
Wishing you a very happy WOYWW

I have a wooded (commercially bought) couple of them - I like being able to see the colours too, and I am not one bit OCD inclined :) I need a bigger one for my paints!

Great fabric in that quilt, perfect for a young lad! You have more patience than me doing all the borders around the squares though :)
ReplyDeleteAnd isn't that just Sod's law about the bracelet???
Hugs, LLJ 38 xxxx
Still looks like a plenty busy desk to me! Glad to know that you're keeping busy x
ReplyDeleteSorr to hear about the bracelet that you finally repaired, what a bummer. Had a giggle at the marking of the sticker carousel. I do love that you made an "older boy style" quilt. I'm sure that will be appreciated!! Thank you so much for visiting my blog today, waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your quilt is for a boy, they do seem to get forgotten a mongest the ribbons, buttons and bows. It is a beautiful quilt. I never made a cuff, but I have been watching everyone else and it does facinate me, just might have to give it a go.
ReplyDeleteKrisha #21
Lovely quilt there Mrs J! Shame about the cuff though but leather is a better option!

Hi Janet, the stickles storage is brilliant and the quilt is stunning - the nautical theme is perfect for any little boy. I've seen a cuff made with grunge board in Craft Stamper magazine and thought I might make one as a gift for my niece - it didn't occur to me that it might not wear well. Have a wonderful week and thanks for the visit earlier. Elizabeth x #58
ReplyDeleteI love your stickler carousel! How cool to use! Your nautical quilt is just lovely and perfect for any little boy (or anyone who love the sea...) I haven't tried to make any jewelry, hope the leather idea makes it sturdy! Have a great week!

Hi Janet, Fabulous stickles storage... Love your nautical quilt brilliant work!! Love your busy desk... Have a great week... Hugs May x x x
ReplyDeleteWow, I envy you your great workdesk area - soooo tidy and organised! Mine is chaotic... sigh.. but I'm gradually getting it organised. I'm finding it is best to organise it in "things I use most" order!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks amazing. I have avoided quilting, because I'm sure I'd get hooked and I simply don't have time. But I love to look at what others have been making and "ooo" & "ahhh" over their work! So, sounds as if you make quilts for sick children? That's a lovely idea.
And the Stickles storage carousel is a fun idea. I don't think it's "OCD" to put a bit of each colour on the shelves - it helps you see which one you want. Good plan!
Thanks for dropping in to my blog and leaving such a nice comment about my rainbow books. I'm enjoying my "rainbow period" just now!
Hi Janet,
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is great! It's wonderful that so many WOYWWers are participating in the project (and I love seeing all the quilts). Drats about the bracelet. One time I beaded a bracelet and put a magnetic clasp on it and it got stuck to the car (being magnetic and all). tee hee. It took me a while to figure that one out!
Happy WOYWW
Peace, Kay #2
love you stickles carousel and the way the sun shines abit on your desk
ReplyDeleteBridget #45
That quilt is great and I am sure it will be very welcome. I did think of getting DH to make me some Stickle storage, but I do not have enough desk space to stand it. it Have a very good week. xx Maggie #42
