Yep it's Wednesday again, time to show my desk to anyone in the world of blogging who wants a peek. Why?
'Coz Julia says so, that's why...... here are the rules, in case you don't know. For more info visit
stamping-ground.
1. show a pic of your desk....no tidying!
2. keep it short (failed this week)
3. visit others and leave a comment...... see you later
There is lots of assorted 'stuff 'on my desk this week..... small projects like some swap books for uksn.
I have just noticed the bendicks choc box is still there ... still empty !
The button bracelet in need of repair.... yes still, I promise to do it tonight... honest!
In the middle of my desk is a gift bag I have just finished, sorry I cannot show the gift.... it might spoil the surprise, please come back next week for the reveal ha ha!
Here is something I can show......
The Lillybo quilt I have just finished for Jo's new charity project. http://www.lillyboquilts.blogspot.co.uk/
I am very pleased with it. I managed to use up quite a lot of fabric scraps. The only fabric I brought were the panels. I wanted to make mine suitable for a boy or a girl, so it is colourful tather than 'pretty'. I'm looking forward to making another one.
I hope the little one likes it and in some small way helps get them through their treatment.
I also managed to get this book to go with the quilt too.
This is the bag the quilt goes in. It is surpossed to be simple so it can be used as a pillow.
The back of the quilt is lined with Red fleece so it is nice a cuddly. Jo asked us to add a label. this took a bit of thinking about but in the end I machine embroidered it (good learning curve)
Anyway as that wasn't very short I will go now .... usual rules apply..... blah blah blah

UPDATE... I HAVE DONE THE BRACELET..... hooray!
Wow, some child is really going to love this. What a special thing to do.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt Janet, I would have loved one as a child, so bright and cheery. I made my bag as a pillow as well - great minds etc.

Gorgeous quilt, Janet...well done, it looks fab. And what a stroke of genius to enclose the book as well, such a lovely idea :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think C&H need fret about the opposition....your haberdashery section is far more comprehensive than Franklins...it's just that I pop down to Salisbury reasonably often, so it's more convenient...it's in Fisherton Street, if you do go.
Hugs, LLJ 45 xx

ReplyDeleteLove the quilt - neither of mine were into Noddy at all. DS was a Thomas fan and DD loved Teletubbiies and the Fimbles. And chocs on your desk? Lovely even if the box is empty.

ReplyDeleteHi Janet! Thanks for the visit to my place! Sewer or sewist?????? How about Fabric Engineer?!?!!? A bit like a Paper Engineer??? When I did it for a living (I used to have 2 industrial machines and make the inner cushions for 3 piece suites) I was a sewing machinist so I suppose I'm a sewist. Fabric Engineer sounds posher though, don't you think?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteHave had a little play with the walking foot - it should get thoroughly used this weekend as I plan to finish "the bag".
Absolutely adore that quilt - I remember Noddy books from (very) many years ago when I was little!!! That's going to make some little person very happy!!
Have a great week

Hi Janet
ReplyDeleteThere will be a letter going out to each quilt maker and then they will also find out the name of the child who receives it. The co-ordinator is off on leave as his wife had an operation yesterday so it will take 2 or 3 weeks. When I took them to the centre the staff really were overwhelmed and they immediately started saying... "this one will be perfect for "A", this one will be amazing for "X" and "W" will love this one!!"
it was so lovely and made it all so special and worthwhile!
Thought you'd like to know... you will find out...
Jo x
That is such a cool quilt! Tamika #126
ReplyDeleteJust love your Noddy quilt and bag and you found a book too! Well done, some little person is going to be very lucky indeed. Annette
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt there Janet.
ReplyDeleteBeer or wine is fine, or even Baileys when crafting, specially when playing with paints!
Hugs

I'm still trawling around the desks as I get time!
ReplyDeleteYour desk is great and your quilt is just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing :)

Sorry to be so late at getting round this week but I’ve had a stiff neck (still got it actually) so time at the computer has been limited due to the pain.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, your desk looks ‘well worked on’ this week Janet…are the Bendix mints for sustenance while you work. I prefer their White chocolate mint thins myself but you don’t see then in the shops very often….just as well really, Lol.
Your LillyBo quilt is just beautiful and some little one is going to be so pleased to receive it.
Thanks for stopping by this week.
Happy Crafting!
Sue
