Hi Deskers
My desk has been taken over this week... regular visitors will probably guess by whom.... she took the photo too... yes it was my 3 year old GD Erin.
WOYWW is open to everyone, whatever age or creative ability. Checkout the details here stamping-ground. Professor Julia is in charge, there is no exam and no marking system..... just fun and inspiration.
Here's Erin's desk..... looks a bit like my old one! still with the bag of zips minus 1 I used on a skirt.
Lots of sticky letters..... not sure what she was trying to write....... next an action shot
Earlier in the week I finished 2 weeks of my Documented Life Journal the first page was to include a fortune cookie. I couldn't buy any here so I looked on the internet for inspiration .... and a funny fortune. My first attempts at painting and drawing.
The challenge this week was to use underpaper in a creative way.
I like this page so I didn't want to cut or cover it up so I decorated a piece of acetate to lay over the top.
I was inspired by the fabulous poppy instillation at the Tower of London which opened this week
This is the two pages together.... I left them loose so I can see the pages separately.
Finally this is what I am working on at the moment (full of cold so something easy.... but not simple)..... I'm trying to Tat.
Thanks for looking and well done if you made it to the end.
If you are kind enough to leave a comment please leave your Mr Linky number so I can get back to visit you too.
hopefully next week normal service will be resumed (whatever that is )
Janet aka fairythoughts
Ps this is what I used 2 of the marbles on last week... they went in my thumb pot before it was fired so they melt and make a fabulous glassy bottom.
Great desk your GD has... love the action shot!! Your poppy inspired page looks fabulous! Hope you have a good week. Helen 3
ReplyDeleteA lovely creative desk with lots going on . How clever you Gs is taking a photo too. My grandson like going in my craft room & like using the bigshot to cut things out . Happy woyww Jill #10
ReplyDeleteAh, a fabulous glassy bottom...that's all a girl can dream of....;-).
ReplyDeleteLove your poppies inspired piece, so beautiful. Helen's pics were amazing!
Erin's photo taking is coming on well too !
Hugs, LLJ 12 xx
What a lot to see on your desk today. Love your poppies. I saw the installation on line. Fab tribute. #21
ReplyDeleteLOL! always busy, you are. I bought tatting books AGES ago but just could not wrap my head around it (see what I did there? wrap... :)) The stamps are from Zettiology - Teesha Moore, who you might have come across in the AJ world, and her hubby Tracy, designed them. They were never sold in a big way in the UK, usually just a few images, but I totally love them. Not a lot of chance of getting them now, since they are closing the stamp making business. Shame that. Check out Teesha on YouTube - she has a FAB make an AJ video that a lot of people use and her style in unmistakable.
ReplyDeleteI seem to be having a run of good luck in my WOYWW placement. It can't last..... :)
Happy WOYWW!

Wow you have such interesting projects, love how the marble has melted. Great poppy page.
ReplyDeleteSandra de @33
Well a big thanks to your Granddaughter for her input!
ReplyDeleteTatting not heard anyone talk about that for years!!!!!!! I remember my grandmother doing this, you have inspired me to find out more!

Thats why I have such a big desk, so that grandies always have room to play! That's the theory anyway, I usually fill up the entire desk with my stuff, so now there is a second, smaller desk for the grandies. Love the melted marble.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

Funny action photo! I am amazed at anyone who tats. It is a special talent. I have received a project as a gift. So delicate. Have fun. #34
ReplyDeleteYou've got some great work there - I love the poppies page - that installation is so amazing, I'd love to go up and see it. It's a great idea to add acetate so you can keep the original page too. Hope you have a great week,
ReplyDeleteDiana #45
Just out of interest, what time did you post? Being on holiday, I was able to stay up to half one, then tried again at 6am. Unfortunately, I then went back to sleep until half ten and became #50. Boo! x
ReplyDeleteGlad you found a fortune cookie!
ReplyDeleteLove your glassy bottom, Janet :) A big thanks to Erin for participating this week - she is definitely a crafter of the future - great action photo. Not a bit surprised you've been inspired by the sea of poppies in London - it's totally amazing. Your page is gorgeous. Have a lovely WOYWW and a great week. Elizabeth x #45
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of the acetate over the other paper - I had to giggle that the 'scrap' was so nice you didn't want to cut it up!! Happy WOYWW Cindy #57
ReplyDeleteHaha your post made me smile! Good to see your GD is allowed to play around on your desk :)
ReplyDeleteThe fate of papercrafters: scraps are input too, so you keep going in circles and don't stop untill you drop. Scraps can be amazing pieces of art :)
The last picture, is that a melted marble? so it's about the size of a marble? or is that a bowl wit ha melted marble in it? Anyway, it looks interesting! Debbie/Daqa #52
That's the kind of take over we like to see, keep encouraging her! LOVE the poppy inspired page, it's sooo beautiful. And that marble is just superb, lo it.

Well there is a budding crafter just waiting to produce wonderful stuff, and with the example of grandma producing that gorgeous poppy inspired picture, I'm not surprised she has inherited talent.
ReplyDelete.
Hope to see more of the tatting. something I have long wanted to try.
Hope the cold is better soon

Hi Janet,
ReplyDeleteI love that your three year old GD is into crafting! I'm quite impressed with her photo taking ability too!!! A young artist in the making. You have been very busy! I've pinned some Documented Life projects but haven't been doing them. I figure any time is a good time - something to look forward to.
The marble at the bottom of the pot is interesting - who would have thought? Well, you!
Happy WOYWW
Peace, Kay (14)

I see your desk has been taken over by a kindred spirit who has a thing for alphabets. It is all probably secret code. I love the poppy covered journal pages-so lovely. I'm not impressed with the fortune on the fortune cookie page-it sounds like a fortune I would get. "Pay bills" well, that's just as dull as it gets. Judy #73
ReplyDeleteLOVE your poppy paper!!! How fun to share your love of crafting with your grandchild. The tatting looks good to me! And how great is that finger pot with melted marbles??
ReplyDeleteTatting...is there anything you can't do?!! Love the idea of the marble in the pot too, how clever you are. Erin's desk is lovely, I love the spread of letters...and in such girly colours!
ReplyDeleteI know how it feels to have your desk taken over Janet ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat action shot... it made me giggle. I bet you have a great time discovering crafting together.
Your poppy pages look great. I love those poppies at the Tower and am thinking my garden needs one.
You have reminded me that I loved to do pottery... hmm... now how could I fit that in.
Enjoy WOYWW and thanks for letting me take a peek.

ReplyDeleteWow you've been busy! I'm always amazed at the variety of crafts you try. And I'm loving Erin's photographic skills & her mod art word jumble :-)
